My son has attended the summer program at Redstick C.A.R.E.S. the last two summers, and he has loved his time there! The staff is so friendly and they really do CARE (pun intended)!
They forgot they scheduled my daughter's appointment, and the counselor left after fighting 5pm traffic to get there. They had no one available to assist. I wish I could give them ZERO stars.
Redstick has truly been life-changing for my family. My daughter has been involved with Redstick since they opened on Essen Lane, and there’s simply not enough space to capture the profound impact they’ve had on our lives and countless other families with special needs. After graduating high school, my daughter struggled with job interviews, and the repeated rejections took a heavy toll on her confidence and sense of purpose. Then, we attended Redstick’s open house, and she said something I’ll never forget: “I’ve found my home.” The staff at Redstick are remarkable—kind, intelligent, and always accessible. They communicate with parents regularly, working closely with us to create personalized plans to address the unique needs of each young adult. They also partner with community organizations to provide real-world experiences, like recent visits from the Baton Rouge Police Department and local businesses for educational sessions and mock interviews. For my daughter, Redstick has been a source of growth, independence, and happiness. She now takes Ubers to work, has a thriving social life, and even invites her best friend to Redstick events, where they are always welcomed with open arms. For me, Redstick has changed my perspective as a parent. Their support has helped me move from being overprotective to trusting my daughter’s independence. Watching her grow and thrive has given me newfound faith and confidence in her abilities. If you know someone who could benefit from an inclusive and supportive organization that empowers young adults, parents, and the community, please share Redstick with them. You won’t regret it.
Words can not express how I feel about this place. My nephew attends here and I have been involved as a weekly volunteer for almost a year. The growth I have seen in my nephew is incredible. The staff members are loving, effective, and respectful of each and every care team member. Each day the members are provided varied and constructive opportunities for personal growth. Our entire family is thankful that we found this amazing place.
I have so much fun volunteering at Red Stick Cares! The community is so welcoming and inspiring, and the environment is very uplifting and positive. I spent the whole summer volunteering here and getting to know all of the faculty and the people that attend. Every time I’ve been there, I’ve noticed the accepting and kind behavior towards myself and others. I can truly say that the service done here is beneficial to all people of our community, and I will definitely continue to support and serve at Red Stick Cares!
6 months ago I would've given RSC 5 stars, but not anymore. They used to be welcoming and accepting of neurodivergent individuals like myself. They have hired people to run the place and work with people like myself and they are cruel, manipulative, and hypocritical. They treat people who are unable to stand up for themselves or recognize when they are being mistreated unfairly and even shame them. They left my family and I in the dust when I was having a hard time instead of trying to help, like they always claimed they wanted to do. If you have a child with special needs, do Not send them to Redstick Cares.
