I had an appointment with Andrea not to be seen as a patient, but to interview her for a grad school assignment. My project involved interviewing a licensed clinician to gain insight into the field. After getting a couple of rejections, I contacted her office, and she was incredibly understanding. Despite her busy schedule, she squeezed me between her client appointments, making time for me the next day. I took up 30 minutes of her time, yet she did not make me feel rushed and took the time to explain her journey in becoming a licensed counselor. She mentioned that when she was in grad school, people helped her along the way, demonstrating her willingness to help patients and future counselors in the community. After my interview, she gave me her business card and said that if I had any more questions or forgot to ask something, I could contact her. After the interview and learning about her experience, I realized I’m definitely in the right field, as I hesitated about returning to school. She is incredibly empathetic and giving of her time. I can only imagine what it would be like for her patients. I can’t thank her enough for her time and for sharing her experience with me. Thanks again, Andrea, for everything; you inspire future counselors like me!
