Our grandson has been attending SCI for almost two years. His vocabulary, speaking & listening skills, focus, and his play skills have improved dramatically from July, 2017 in the pre-school classes to the present (Jan., 2018) in the Kindergarten class. We could not ask for a more caring, compassionate staff (from directors, to teachers, to class assistants, to receptionists and bookkeepers, to cleaning staff) who are dedicated to educating the whole child. The directors are all BCBA certified (Board Certified Behavior Analysts), and they know their content. They have always been able to answer our questions in a knowledgeable and timely manner. In addition, they have been wonderful advocates for our grandson, going so far as to attend IEP meetings with his parents and us in our grandson’s public home school. The education director will also attend school tours with parents when the child is ready to move to the next placement level, whether it is kindergarten or first grade. In addition, the physical facilities are beautiful and clean and smell good. The classrooms are not packed wall to wall with furniture or learning centers, or unused chairs or desks or clutter. Overall, the learning spaces are inviting and aesthetically pleasing. I feel that my grandson is in the best possible learning environment, and I expect to see even more growth before he has to leave SCI to attend first grade.
