Dr. Tyana Velazquez-Smith has been an absolute gift to our family. She is brilliant, warm, and genuinely caring — the kind of teacher who immediately makes both child and parent feel supported and understood. What truly sets her apart is that she is never “hoity-toity” or unapproachable like some others we’ve encountered. She meets our child exactly where they are, with patience, kindness, and deep expertise. She has a remarkable ability to break down concepts in a way that makes them accessible and confidence-building, while still maintaining high standards. Equally important to us, she always takes the time to explain everything to us as parents. We never feel left in the dark. She communicates clearly about progress, challenges, and strategies, which has made such a difference in how we support learning at home. Most of all, she is truly invested in our child’s wellbeing and education. It’s not just about reading skills; it’s about confidence, growth, and helping our child feel capable and proud. We are incredibly grateful for her dedication and wholeheartedly recommend her to any family looking for an exceptional educator.

I attended a professional development session for public librarians to learn about the Science of Reading and learned so much! I took 2 pages of notes, the presenter did a fantastic job explaining everything.

My child's time with Sensational Inclusion has been life changing. The safe, supportive, engaging space Tyana provides has helped them feel more confident at school as we navigate their neurodivergence and sensory needs. Tyana empowered by student to co-develop their 504 plan and advocate for their needs. I've seen a marked improvement in their ability to communicate their internal experiences, stand up for themself with peers and teacher (and me!). They now usually see their autism and ADHD as strengths vs. "defects" - an incredible perspective in a world that's not designed for their brilliance, as Tyana says. I only wish we'd found Sensational Inclusion earlier. I hope more schools, workplaces, and public spaces will become more inclusive - and Tyana's work is making a difference.

Tyana presented to our children's librarians and everyone loved her presentations. One person commented: This was the most in dept presentation on this topic that I have ever been a part of. Tiana gave SO MANY specific examples about how she has used play of various types in situations she is familiar with and challenged us to start the thinking process for what else we can do. The breadth and variety of her answers was larger than I often see. She clearly answered the question "what can that look like?" She also offered opportunities to discuss so that we can learn, grow, and create together. Beyond that, every time she spoke, she emanated respect and care for human beings and the realities that can be a part of their lives. She brought so much wisdom about trauma and helped us to be specific about what we see and could see within our libraries so that we can recognize when we can be helpful and strive to present a safe space all of the time. Each moment, she brought with her an awareness about the differences of each human's experience and a desire to bring growth of understanding and empathy to us so that we can share it with others. It was just a joy to spend a day with her and in such meaningful discussions. We will definitely invite her back!

I appreciate everything that Ms. Tyana stands for. My son cries when he cannot be apart of his tutoring group. We will definitely be long term participants in this tutoring group.

Tyana has been passionate and encouraging, helping to build self esteem and reading skills! Her support has been worth every ounce of time and money we have invested. She is so very skilled and talented in supporting kids to read. We highly recommend Tyana as not only a highly skilled teacher but a wonderful and kind human being!

This is an update on the school year 2024-2025 services sensational inclusion provided my family: cse consulting and helping me advocate at the cse for my child Tyanna helped me with how to communicate with the other parties on the committee and helped me create goals and inclusive accommodations to present to the team!
