When I come here I know I’m in a safe environment and can have a good time and talk to people who understand what I’m going through.

You need to take your child here if they have a social disorder. They are a kind staff. They work to find the best in your child to connect him or her with the world.

I posted a review a one star review a few weeks ago and I wanted to make an addendum. One of the therapists reached out to me and was extremely apologetic. The staff is truly wonderful it's just that there was a mis-communication and that's what upset my husband and I. Again, I am grateful they reached out to us to explain the situation.

This review is just what our family experienced at Skills. First, we will say the staff is very friendly and comforting. At our first appointment, my husband and I and 4 year old daughter met with one of the therapists. We brought documents from her school and explained she was labeled as having anxiety in the classroom and was more apt to relate to the teachers than to her peers. We explained that we were interested in having her in group play to encourage peer to peer relationships. That's all. The therapist suggested a Saturday play group which we were excited about. My husband noticed on the first day that some of the children had special needs and were in the play group, which surprised him. Our daughter said she enjoyed playing and had a lot of fun. We continued the play group for 3 weeks. On the third week, my husband asked if we could make an appointment to sit down and discuss what was noticed in the group regarding our daughter. When my husband mentioned her having anxiety(which her school claimed, never an issue at home) the therapist was surprised. She said the group was for children with impulse control! Something that NEVER came up in our first meeting and obviously never has been an issue. Also, I noticed several weeks later that they never returned the paper work from her school that we wanted to keep with her other health documents. Again, the staff is very nice and patient but to put our daughter in a group that had nothing to do with why were there was truly disappointing. It's hard enough trying to find good mental health care, waiting for appointments, insurance approvals, time out of work to make the appointments but to have a child put in a group that has nothing to do with the issue is absurd.

wonderful ! no matter how bad a week my 11 year old Aspie is having in school, he always looks forward to his "clubs" at Skills in Motion.

The owner is extremely kind. The play therapists are knowledgeable and fun. The building is clean and child friendly. Plenty of parking. My child has benefited greatly from receiving there survices. Services may be covered by insurence. The only downfall is the tiny waiting room, but on the upside you are allowed to leave your child in their care and leave and come back to get your child after the class as ended. There is a picnic table outside as well.

A great place for children with special needs to have fun and gain confidence. They have a caring staff and a colorful and inviting facility.
