We had a terrible experience my husband is a pastor and we came to encourage and pray over one of our congregations members who is a friend. The day we showed up was no visitors day which was on us and we completely understand however when we simply asked how to go about obtaining visiting rights and Visiting hours., We were treated very rudely and with a COLD attitude by the front receptionist. NO WARMTH. This place needs PR Training on how to treat visitors

I went here in October of 2021 but judging from the reviews, they have not changed, so I will give my experience. My stay was from October 2nd - October 13th. I came to Smokey Point after an attempt. I had heard horror stories at Seattle Children's about this hospital, so I did not want to go, but Seattle Children's would not accept me anymore. I was brought in an ambulance and they wanted me to sign some papers, but I did not want to because I wanted to leave. They told me the fastest way I would get out of there is by signing the papers. I waited hours in the waiting room until I felt like I was losing my mind and I finally just signed the papers. As soon as I did though, they immediately took the forms out of my hands, along with yanking my emotional support stuffed animal out of my arms. When I tried to get it back, they held me down. They let me go after a little, but I was so upset, I started to hurt myself, and without warning, a male pulled my pants down and stuck me with a syringe. This was very traumatic for me, I just remember crying so hard and loud the whole time they took me up the elevator. I did appreciate that they did not make me sleep in a room with someone for the first night, since I am extremely socially anxious. The patients were all very sweet, I never had a problem with the other patients, but some of the staff were just unprofessional. At the time, I was suffering from anorexia, and the staff talked very openly and loudly about my eating, to the point other patients pointed it out. I would also try to exercise there, but with my diagnosis, they did not let me, and would pick me up by my arms and bring me to the front desk if I was working out. While I was there, I did not get to go out with the other patients because I did not let them see me naked for check in, so I had to be eyes-on and stay in the unit room day after day. Being eyes-on, you have to use the bathroom and shower with the door open and someone outside to watch. At one point, I was not eyes-on anymore, and they still would not let me out of the room. Barely met with any therapists, and staying inside all day was incredibly boring, so I just slept on the couches most of the day, freezing because I couldn't have my hoodie unless they cut it. The ONLY good thing about this place were the people I met. I had good relationships with the other patients, a couple of the staff were really kind and were like a parental figure to me. Since I did not eat the food from the hospital, the staff would go out and get me something occasionally, which I thought was very sweet and considerate. At the end of my stay, I was sent to another hospital for IV fluids, but the staff did not inform me about what was happening until I got in the ambulance. It was pretty embarrassing too because they made me get in the stretcher in front of all the other patients, and everyone was asking where I was going when I didn't even know. And last but not least, when listing my diagnoses at discharge, they said I have mild autism? I was never diagnosed with that prior to admission so my guess is that they must have tried to diagnose me. So over time, my stay got better, but it does not make up for the trauma I endured at the start. I was already in a fragile state of mind, so I still do not understand why they would do that to me, but it was just not worth it.

I'll preface by saying this place was once a lot better, but at this point, I'll just say the photos do not match reality. This place "works", but barely. Most equipment is on its last legs, and the staff are worked to hell and back. Everyone in this place deserves better, and yet the upper-end staff have the gall to pat themselves on the back by buying expensive cars rather than spending the difference on staffing appropriately. The floor staff have a bad habit of getting off on disrespecting the patients, which creates a "war" between patients and the goal of places like these (that of which being the improvement of mental health). This is not how places should be run.

My nephew was brought to Smokey Point from Good Samaritan Hospital on a DCR. The facility violated the DCR guidelines and was not allowed to put him in a voluntary treatment facility. They transferred him to SeaMar in Tacoma yesterday and he walked out today. He didn’t have a hearing, or if he did we were not notified. They were supposed to notify us of a hearing. We sent letters to Kandra expressing our concerns with his drug addiction for years and all of his overdoses on fentanyl. We expressed that he can’t be released to his mother’s house as she is a meth addict. The don’t care! But if he overdoses and dies they will care cause we will be filing a lawsuit!

Well my friend kelly spent 4 days there and asked me to write a post for him because he has no phone so this is his story.they keep me in detox couldn't get my medicine right put me on my treatment then started taking my medication away to where I couldn't sleep for days then they released me and sent my medication clear on the other side of the state to the wrong pharmacy and uts been three days now and I'm still trying to get my prescription so I call to talk to a supervisor and the nurse that's responsible for all this is refusing to let me speak to a supervisor this is the worst place I would never recommend this place it's unpleasant and probably won't get clean because they won't even give you your medication

They say in their responses that patient safety and quality care are imporrant to them, and clearly it is not. There is a very valid reason why this place has such terrible reviews, you would think they would actually try and make changes. My stay was in 2019 and I hesitated to write a review but after seeing that nothing has changed and even worsened i felt compelled to write this. I came for emergency medication management and mental health help, and left taking 5 different medications that ultimately made me a zombie. They yelled at me for sleeping so much and “not participating” however, they placed me on a ton of sedating medication! No wonder I couldn’t keep my eyes open! Everyone talking about the food is correct. They provide “snacks” that is not enough for everyone and the food is so terrible I often did not eat. I would not go here again if my life depended on it and would never ever recommend anyone to come here. As you can see from the reviews my experience is the typical experience from this place.
