SOS Care

Our child was a part of SOS Therapy Charleston and their ABA therapy services from the time they were 3 years old. After years of involvement, once our child reached high school age, we were abruptly dropped from services because we were told they no longer had the support or resources for our child. There was no proper notice given. We received only a message/email instructing us not to bring our child to the next scheduled ABA therapy session, which was shocking and extremely unprofessional considering the length of time we had been with this company. The program originally began as in-home therapy. Throughout the years, there was very high staff turnover, and our child went through several different BCBAs, making consistency and progress difficult. While we did have some therapists who were caring and professional, others were not. One therapist appeared to have alcohol in what was supposed to be a coffee cup during a session, which was completely unacceptable. When SOS transitioned services to a facility, the quality and consistency declined further. There were multiple occasions where therapy sessions were cut short without clear explanation. After being with this company since our child was a toddler, the lack of communication, continuity of care, and professionalism was extremely disappointing. Based on our long-term experience, we do not recommend this company.

I am so happy that this organization developed a housing initiative, Oak Tree Farm, that I now call home. I took a virtual class on Zoom in order to apply and the last week of the class involved taking classes in-person at their offices. I met some of the future OTF residents, as well as some of the adults in their adult programs and I was very impressed with how polite the adults were. The SOS Care staff have really taught them social and independent living skills. I'm not familiar with the other work they do with kids and teens, but if they work this well with the adults, than the kids and teens must be gaining these valuable skills! I wish SOS Care all the best in the months and years to come.

I cannot tell how special SOS of both MB and MI locations has been!! They are caring, attentive and most important I have seen a high improvement in my child’s ability. Ability in behavior, sharing and speech. All of the therapist are amazing and knowledgeable. Morgan keeps the ship running and if I need something or have something going on she listens and we have regular meetings. That in itself keeps me more aware of what’s going on. Thank you !!!

My 4 yr old has been going to SOS Care for about 8 months now and he’s come so far since he started. He looks forward to going everyday and I look forward to more progress.

SOSCare steps in and steps up! Our son floundered after graduation with no services or few short term agencies. SOS is here for him for the rest of his life. Literally. Teaching social skills. Not ordinary skills. Social queues. Conversation. Reading intentions. Then there’s cooking. Not following a recipe. Adjusting a recipe to your liking. Substituting fats. Trying new things. Creative cooking. Add in how to change a furnace filter or smoke detector battery. How to be a barista. How to clean a dryer vent. How to play Wordle. How to do CPR. Folding a sheet. Just everything.
