Our family is so thankful to have had the opportunity to work with Heather recently. We went for gifted testing and I was so impressed by how knowledgeable she was about gifted individuals. My older child had been flagged as being advanced during CogAT testing but I wanted more data to assess how the emotional and behavioral components of my child's personality played into her intelligence. I also had an inkling my younger child was gifted and wanted to be able to get her school support as soon as possible. Heather's background in the schools was incredibly helpful with this. After the assessment, she explained to me how the process for GT identification works in our school district, both with CogAT results and without. She was able to explain what to expect at each stage, what I would need to provide to the district/school, and guide me on who to contact to get the ball rolling. She put my children at ease immediately, and was so kind, calm, and encouraging. She supported them emotionally if they got frustrated during assessment and was able to go with the flow and guide them easily if they needed any redirection. Even in the 1-1.5 hour sessions my children each did, it was obvious how much she desired to get to know my children. We had a thorough debrief post-assessment and I was amazed by everything she was able to notice in such a short amount of time. Anecdotes she included in the report made it obvious that she had been observing carefully and engaging meaningfully throughout the session. She provided me with books to read to help support my children as they continue through school, contacts within the district, and an open-door invitation to reach out if I needed any further assistance with getting ALPs or any other educational support for my children. We were so pleased with how thorough her evaluation and report were. She really took the time to get to know and understand our son. This even included going to his school and observing in the classroom. Not only did her report provide names of various specialists who can support our son going forward, but she also made the connection by emailing the other provider and including us in the email. It was then very easy for the other provider or us to respond to the email to get the ball rolling. After providing us with the final report, Heather arranged a meeting with the folks supporting our son at school and shared her results and some recommendations with them as well. The last and most amazing service Heather provided was a child friendly version of her report that was custom made for our son. She reviewed that report with us and him.
