Super 8 by Wyndham Ketchikan

I had a mixed experience at the Super 8 Ketchikan. On the positive side, the staff members were incredibly friendly and easy to work with—check-in was a breeze. The location is also very convenient. However, the building itself is quite dated and is definitely due for a major overhaul. While the room was 'okay' for a short stay, the cleanliness wasn't up to par. It’s a fine spot if you just need a place to crash, but it could use some serious modernizing.

The staff here was great. Helpful with anything I needed. I recommend one of the ocean view rooms, it made the experience so much better.

Despite my better judgement I was tempted to book by the price. I found evidence of bedbugs in my room and while the desk let me switch rooms twice each one had the same issue (pics attached). The manager promised a refund but didn’t follow through despite multiple follow-ups. (Booking partner offer, Booking confirmed the property must confirm refund and did not authorize them.) Rooms in poor state such as the cracked toilet in the picture. Loud buzzing noise in the lobby. Unfortunate since the location, while not the best part of town, would have been convenient for the inter-island ferry. Avoid!

The people who operate this motel are very nice and try to be accommodating. Unfortunately, maintenance is grossly lacking and a motel that has the ability to be inviting and highly welcoming is, instead, third rate. It is clean, the beds are comfortable, but is aging and significantly lacking in pride by the owners, Examples: A lamp not plugged in because there is no outlet and it doesn't have a bulb; holes in the wall where a mirror was moved and they didn't bother to use ten cents worth of spackle to fill them; a breakfast room with coffee but no sweetener one day and no milk or cream the next, a broken juice machine and nothing hot except coffee; beds made with a thin bedspread but with no blankets; two small pillows per bed; a mini coffee maker in the rooms with sparse supplies; broken thermostats in common areas. They let it become old and rundown rather than conducting obvious necessary maintenance. The good things are that it is close to downtown, there is a Safeway close by, parking is free and ample, and as far as I know, only The Landing is a good alternative.. You could do worse and they could do better. Merritt Weisinger Sparks, NV

Stayed here overnight for almost $300 because I had to catch the next flight out to Wrangell in the AM. Only thing that barely saved the experience was the front desk service and the view I had from my very frosted aged glass window -I tell myself it gave it an ambience-. I mainly blame myself for not planning better as its my first time solo traveling out here but will not be booking a musty room, with no AC and stained walls, if I ever visit Ketchikan again. I do not mean to be so harsh but for the price I payed and to be told it was because it was "tourist season" and the lack of amenities available, thumbs down. It gave more of a motel than a hotel in my opinion. Thats what I get for choosing convinice (because of proximity to the airport) over comfort.

I had a wonderful stay in this room. It was spacious, clean, and well-maintained. The bed was very comfortable, and all amenities worked perfectly. Housekeeping was consistent, and the view from the window was a pleasant surprise. Definitely a great value for money, and I would highly recommend it.

The last time I stayed here was not a very good review this time. I am very pleased. Everything was great. The room smells great. The room was very clean. We did have to ask for an extra towel because there was two of us staying here, but the atmosphere was great. I was very pleased with this visit, and would come again.
