I do really enjoy coming here then anywhere in homer, but they can't help me with my insurance, everyother time I get a nurse or a front desk lady that is rude and dismissive. Maybe long day but still would be good to have a nice attitude.

The support staff at SVT are super great and Kourtney Holder, our NP is lovely. I’ve had problems with one physician on staff (completely dismissive and unhelpful but he is retiring) and some of the CMAs have been exceedingly judgmental of me for following CDC vaccination guidelines rather than the “slow/gradual” vaccination method. This last time the woman told me I was going to make my child very sick (which was nonsense, she did not get sick from the vaccines, she just didn’t like getting the injections- which has been the case with all my kids). What a horrible thing to say to a parent. I’ve been going to SVT for my kids and myself for two years now and I’ve had this judgmental response about vaccinations from the CMAs four times now. And it really makes me upset to be treated this way. They also do not provide COVID vaccinations for children, we go to the Homer Medical Clinic to get vaccinated.

Very disappointed at how my husband was treated here back in July. He was seen by a nurse practitioner who completely dismissed him and accused him of chasing pain meds. He blew out his meniscus and ACL. He was told to take tylenol and noproxen and gave him a brace. After arguing with her she settled for a xray. Later, said nothing is wrong, come back if it still persist. Didn't go back, he ended up going to Dr Adcoxs office and got the care he needed. This would have been taken care of along time ago had the nurse practitioner actually took the time to address the issue and do the job she signed up for. Rather then be accusing and dissmisve. If your not willing to listen to clients perhaps you should look for a different line of work. maybe in the morgue, since you are cold hearted.

My dental visit began with Dr. Morton explaining to me that children are awful these days because no one hits their kids. (Because health care workers who advocate for assaulting children is normal?) He then launched into a diatribe about how terrible Native health care is. At which point I turned to the assistant to clarify that SVT is owned by Seldovia Village Tribe. The staff is great. Too bad the doctor is awful. I asked the office staff to please contact me when they hire a professional to replace him.

I was a tourist driving around in a RV from another state. I woke up one morning with a terrible tooth ache and the left side of my face was swollen. We were driving through Homer and my husband tried calling local Homer dentists so I could see one and get an antibiotic prescription written out. One was on vacation. And one was too busy to see me. We stopped at SVT hoping they would see me. It was one of the dentists numbers we had called. I went to the reception desk to show her my face. She absolutely would not let me see the dentist because he was busy. It would have taken only five minutes for the dentist to come out and see my face and write a prescription. I ended up having to go to the Homer Emergency Room for help. The bill is $626.00 just for a prescription to be written. This shows a definite lack of compassion. This could have ended up a real emergency with the swelling moving into my eye. Fortunately everything worked out. It would have so much easier and so much cheaper if this dentist had only given me five minutes of his time.
