John and his team are excellent providers. Their speciality in DBT skills and free DBT skills group are valuable resource to the community. I highly recommend Ebright Collaborative!
The only reason I'm posting this review under an anonymous name is to protect my teen's identity; I am otherwise happy to own my critiques and have shared them openly with the staff. We were referred to this place by multiple other therapists and psychiatrists who weren't making progress with our teen and Ebright was held up to us as the gold standard care for our situation. Despite its name, it is not very "collaborative." Your teen gets their own personal therapist while in the program but, at least in our experience, that therpaist didn't work with us as parents and whenever we would bring a concern to the therapist's attention, the response would be "I'll share this with [your teen]," even when doing so would not be helpful or positive. The "meat" of the program is essentially a skills class that the teen attends with one -- and only one -- parent (so that if there are two parents in the household, one is not in on the sessions, which is also less than helpful). As you can imagine, many parents have trouble getting their teen to come or sign on to the sessions, and even though it's for troubled teens the organizers didn't seem to have much of a solution for this. Lastly, the parents get access to coaching, and while our coach was surprisingly accessible at all hours of the day, they offered little that was helpful, with one essentially telling us as parents to back down because doing so is better than the power struggle, and another was more interested in pedantic mini-lectures on what DBT is than directly addressing our situation. After investing more than a year into this process, and despite our teen "graduating" from the program, our teen has been arrested more than once since then for becoming out of control and violent, plus another in-patient stay at a psychiatric hospital. If you are a parent of a disregulated teen, I feel your pain and wish I could tell you that there was any such thing as real answers or help.
Transitions Delaware appreciates having Ebright Collaborative as a referral source for clients! They provide an excellent service to the community; and we've been able to service clients who have "graduated" from their program having been well served. Thank you Ebright!
I am so grateful to have found Ebright. From the first point of contact I felt cared about and heard. I would recommend this place for DBT skills and therapy. It has changed my life. They truly are an amazing group of people.
I received excellent, perceptive and insightful coaching from Casey and the others at Ebright. Sensitive topics and concerns are handled with honesty, sensitivity and compassion. The skills taught have real value and practical application; they provide concrete actions that can be taken based on the level of crisis. I found my time there to be invaluable. Worth the long wait!
