Our experience with The Family Center of Maine has been truly transformative. The therapists create a welcoming, judgment-free space where every voice is heard and valued. Not sure why a place that's called "The Family Center of Maine" would then have an inexperienced "administrative assistant" repeatedly question a potential client over the phone on their desire to arrange for family counseling (as opposed to individual counseling for all four members of the family). On my second phone call up the chain of command, and hoping to have my family's needs taken more seriously, all I got was the comment that the practice "manager" had "three years" of experience, and that their set-up worked perfectly for them. After scrolling through their list of providers, it's clear this practice may work best for individuals with simple issues, not complex family dynamics or any issues that require a skilled, experienced clinician.

I cannot say enough positive things about my experience with The Family Center of Maine. From the moment I walked through their doors, I felt a sense of warmth, compassion, and genuine care that immediately put me at ease. The environment is peaceful and welcoming, which made it so much easier to open up and begin the healing process. The new Family Center facility (or all locations for that matter) are as great as the services they provide. With a clean, calm and comfortable environment - very professional staff and a vibe that truly makes you feel right at home. If you’ve ever wondered if talk therapy is for you, or ever felt it wasn’t, this is the type of place with people that will help make up your mind or change your mind if you’re on the fence. Also, here’s a plug for Kai, the most understanding, thought provoking, forward thinking therapist that one could have! Give them a shot, you won’t regret it.

Our family has had a wonderful experience with the staff at both the Falmouth and South Portland locations. My kids feel so supported by their therapists and always look forward to going. As their parent, I appreciate that they have a safe space and person to open up to. I’m grateful to have them as part of my village.

We started at The Family Center of Maine when it first opened a few years ago. Post-Covid, they were able to provide our community with a service that it had been severely lacking for so long. I can't say enough about how wonderful and welcoming the staff has been. Over the past couple of years, I have referred countless family members and friends in southern Maine area and their response to their services has been overwhelmingly positive! The company's growth has been absolutely inspiring to watch and their knowledge, expertise, kindness, and flexibility is beyond what I had ever anticipated for our family and community.

The Family Center of Maine in Scarborough has been wonderful for our family. Two of my children have seen therapists there and both have had amazing experiences. The professionals there are warm, supportive and genuinely care about the children they work with. They’ve established strong, trusting relationships with my kids. We’ve dealt with lots of anxiety and I have watched both kids grow and become much more confident out in the world thanks to the tools we’ve been given here. I couldn’t ask for a better outcome. So happy we were recommended this practice. Highly recommend!

Everyone at the Family Center of Maine is so kind! My therapist there is wonderful, and all the administrative staff are so helpful and responsive at figuring out scheduling, insurance, etc. The ability to do telehealth is so convenient!
