This facility has its good and bad. Let’s cover the good first. When I started going to this location, I was able to get an appointment in under a week; however, I was a crisis case when I first started. I’m aware that made me a priority case. I’ve heard of people waiting anywhere from a week to several months to get an appointment. They picked my first therapist for me, and she was a perfect fit for me. They didn't do so well choosing someone to differ from me when she left, though. I now see Courtne,y and I can not emphasise enough how amazing she is. Now for the bad. I do struggle getting appointments scheduled since they always offer days that don’t work unless I schedule at least 2 weeks out. Your impression is always gonna be based on who you see. Both my girlfriend and I see the same psychiatrist here, who I will not name out of respect. She and I have had drastically different experiences. We are both LGBTQ+ AFAB teenagers with colored hair. I bring my mom to appointments with me while my gf goes alone. When I see the psychiatrist he talks to me more than my mom as he should, but he frequently glances at my mom as though he's looking for confirmation of my claims, looks at me as though he doesn't believe me, asks my mother if what I'm saying is true, and disregards my concerns about my medication often by telling me its normal and not to worry instead of helping to find a solution. At least he listens to me, though. My girlfriend, however, has told me that when she goes, he chooses what to listen to. He kept her on the same med her primary prescribed, despite her explaining that it only does the bare minimum, and he doesn't listen when my gf goes in after doing tons of research and expresses that she thinks she may have a condition. She does this, looking for solutions and support, not attention. We believe he may think she's one of those crazy self-diagnosing kids.

It looks like my reviews align with the others that have been posted. I once was told by a nurse practitioner that I didn’t appear as someone that had depression. That experience has haunted me for a long time. Now, after trying out the Ivy Center in Brookings, I can add another experience to that list that will forever haunt me. I felt extremely dismissed and unheard. If you or anyone you know are seeking help for mental health reasons, DO NOT GO HERE.

Thank you and your staff for your help. Amy was excellent to work with! A top level professional who exacted a perfect balance between listening and providing practical ideas, techniques, and literary resources for ongoing goal setting and conrinual progress. Wishing you well, take care.

We are having a very difficult day as we can’t find our loved one. When I called to let them know they wouldn't be able to make it to their appointment due to them being missing, the lady on the phone was extremely rude. Seems you could have been an ounce nicer as we were trying to be respectful and give your team a heads up that one of their patients won’t be showing up due to mental health concerns. Aren’t you suppose to be a facility who is welcoming and helpful to the mental health of all? Hire someone a bit nicer to answer your phones and show some respect to be struggling.

Was extremely pleased with my counselor until the facility failed myself and all of their clients. Not only did they mistreat their employee, they waited several weeks to contact their clients and gave incorrect information about their leaving. The mental health system is not flawless, but this was a huge mistake from BBHW that left many clients without care.
