I have been in this facility on many occasions over the last 10 plus years and I can tell you I have never seen a more thoughtful, professional, honest and caring staff anywhere than The Sunshine Academy, that goes from the ownership to the staff. They are all great to work with and will listen to your concerns with your child and then provide the best care and resolution possible. They are the Best!
Our family loves Sunshine Academy. We watched our son flourish within the short time since he's started. Its truly amazing. They have a great team and you can see they care about the children.
Great staff! It is clear that they truly care for the children they treat - highly recommend
**Adding this comment about my child’s experience after seeing the response from Sunshine Academy after leaving the one star, which I’m not surprised by their reply and somewhat expected something like that** The plan was followed at the center and at home, up until we left. My one star review is for the assumptions, judgements, opinions and comments your director made regarding my child's behavior, my parenting, and then ignoring new medical information that was having a major impact on my child. What mainly prompted this review is the feedback I've received from my child over the past 7 months since leaving this facility. When I sent the email in February, announcing that we’d be taking a break to pursue medical treatment for the new medical diagnosis, I was shocked when 24 minutes later, a kind and quick response from the director stating “no breaks were allowed, but if we’d ever want to pursue therapy in the future to let them know” and honestly i was relieved and her response didn’t’ affect me because I knew we would never be coming back. After the experiences at their facility, I was so confused about my child’s diagnoses based on the offhanded comments from the director that I immediately setup a meeting to share our experience with my child's psychologist to get feedback… where she told us to RUN and never look back. My one star review is not because i'm upset we couldn’t “take a break” from your facility. It’s because you lacked compassion and empathy for his situation, you formed your own opinions about why he was behaving the way he was without taking into account the new medical info shared, and you disregarded and dismissed my feedback as a parent who knows their child best. Do you feel the rigidity of your plan should take precedence over a child’s mental and emotional wellbeing? Is that yielding best results? I felt you were ignoring what I was telling you. 7 months later, after leaving your facility, my child is still processing and sharing some of the things he experienced there, and unfortunately they aren’t the good memories. I suggest you let your therapists know to keep gossip about other patients to a minimum in the gym, because it can be heard in the waiting room, and they were in session with another child. I'm so glad he hadn't been in therapy at this facility very long. It was not a fit for our family in the least. Parents, if you feel in your gut that something isn’t right here, it probably isn’t.
It's a great place. My son has been going here for a little while and it seems much better than the previous three places I've tried. The are direct which I like.
