My brother is a schizophrenic with a court order that requires Robert Young center to provide him with his medication ( a once a month shot since he wasn’t taking his pills) They allowed my extremely schizophrenic brother to switch his medication from the court order shot, back to the pills that he does not take. Why? No wonder no one in this town goes here UNLESS, they absolutely have to.

I would find another place to go if you can. I had a bad experience with this place.

This place was absolutely horrible. We would have virtual visits that the therapist would not show up to. She eventually never returned my call for another appointment so just stopped scheduling them.

The Muscatine office is wonderful.

Always responsive when I call. People in the office seem to care and handle things quickly. My provider has always assisted me with anything I need.

Let me begin by stating that it is difficult to post a review for a place where people seek psychological help because the stigma is bad enough, however people NEED to be informed about how irrelevant they will be treated during times when they are most vulnerable. I scheduled an appointment to see Beth Colon in April. As these types of appointments must be made well in advance the scheduled date was for July 23--three months later. I received a phone call in May, I believe, informing me the appointment would be pushed back to the first week in August. There was no explanation as to why. Come the end of July, I was told by a different individual working through Robert Young that my appointment had been moved AGAIN (to August 21st) and this time, I never received a phone call or message from Beth's office. They claim they were unable to leave a message, but I find that unlikely as my phone is always in service. I was understandably upset. As a person going through a troubled time, I waited three months initially, and then without explanation was pushed off to wait an additional month. As both times the appointments were cancelled and rescheduled weeks to months in advance, it felt as if my issue that I scheduled time to have addressed was not of importance or relevance to mental health care providers. Not only that, I could not make the appointment on the THIRD reschedule date as I had to work. This was EXACTLY why I scheduled it when I did initially, and even the second time I accepted it as it worked with my schedule. I had been flexible, but this was ridiculous to just expect I would continue to deal with being put on the back burner when I made my appointment well in advance. I called Beth's office and demanded to know why I was being treated like this. I was patient at first, but then the receptionist upon being asked to be connected to Beth picked up the phone and said, "She's not answering, but I have you down for August 21." I had literally just told that same lady I could not make that appointment. I repeated myself and her response floored me: "Well, can't your employer just let you come in late?" Um, no. And that's not the point or any of her business, which is why I initially made the appointment for the date and time that I did. She then told me, "Your other appointments were cancelled because she was sick." That is a BOLD-FACED LIE because they were cancelled and re-schedule, I'll say it again, weeks to months in advance! Upon talking to Beth's actual secretary, she rudely said, "I know it's hard for you to believe, but other people have issues and get sick, too." I explained that unless Ms. Beth had a crystal ball and psychic knowledge that enabled her to predict a future illness it is highly unlikely that the truth is that my appointments were re-scheduled so far in advance for such a reason. I am empathetic to those with health concerns, but at the time I had a concern and dealt with a re-schedule already! You would think if she needed to schedule an appointment in advance for herself she would take the time to ensure she wasn't pushing off the same client twice in a row, or I would be accommodated to at least see a different provider, but nope. When I tried to make an appointment for a time in which I could come in following not being able to make the August 21st appointment, I was told the next opening was in JANUARY. Can you believe that? Nearly AN ENTIRE YEAR LATER. Absolutely unbelievable. I informed them I wanted to remain on the 'Cancelled Appointments' list and would not be seeking help from their facility as they needed to be ashamed of themselves for how they, mental health professional nonetheless, made me feel. I then called a different Robert Young provider and THAT SAME DAY had an appointment scheduled to see a provider just three weeks later. Do not come here if your issue is of dire need to be addressed. I could hold on and get through it, but for some more mentally fragile patients it might be too little too late.
