UW Medicine Adult Autism Clinic

What's the point of an adult autism clinic that doesn't diagnose autism? That's totally useless, especially for people with Medicaid because NO doctors who diagnose autism take Medicaid. Consider hiring a diagnostician or two to make life easier for people who are already struggling to navigate the world.

I was referred here for autism evaluation. After 3 months, I was called and spoke to a nice person who helped answer some questions I have and sent intake forms. On the intake forms, there was a checkbox with "Evaluation," which I checked. Everything so far indicated that this clinic would evaluate me. After I submitted these intake forms, I again received no response for another 3 months, even after attempting to contact them. Finally, today, I was called and told that the clinic does not offer evaluations and that I need to go somewhere else. It's frustrating that no one told me this earlier in the 6 months long process.

I was referred to the clinic by my primary care provider. The clinic told me I needed a UW referral and set me up with a UW primary care doctor to get the referral (out of pocket cost to me: $200). Upon receiving the referral, I was told it would be 48 business hours to one week to hear back for scheduling. It has now been three weeks, I call to follow up 1-2 times a week, and the clinic does not respond. The scheduling team forwards messages and promises me a callback, which I never receive. So I've paid $200 out of pocket for a referral I already had, to still not be able to get an appointment with the clinic. Absolutely terrible medical practices.

Top notch. Best place be for the best care. We have been a patient of Dr. Gary Stobie for over 20 years now and you can’t get a better place!
