I've been a client of VOA Quincy for years and the quality of their clinical service has really gone downhill. They no longer actively prioritize client care like they used to, which was at the time really exceptional. It seems that the recent changes in upper administration has put client needs dead last of concern at Volunteers of America.
Horrendous patient care. Went there for medication maintenance followed all their procedures through out the month ie counseling 2 times per week. When it came time to receive my medication that I have been on for 20 years I had a zoom appointment with Dr. Dixon. She prescribed all different medications. After taking the medications Dr. Dixon prescribed I ended up in the ER
I was treated with kindness and compassion! I had left VOA a month ago because my wonderful counselor had moved on, and I went to another agency for help , but after 5 weeks I still had no treatment plan and no referrals were made, (even though I complained of intrusive thoughts and let the counselor know I had previously been in prison for beating a man to death dur ing one of these PTSD episodes!! Would you believe that the agency I am referring to states as part of its mission statement to do this work to protect the public from the mentally ill! What a joke!! No, but VOA welcomed me back and immediately began teaching me techniques to stop my racing mind, I mean IMMEDIATELY!! I was assigned a counselor for the very next day, I was then given an appt. With a Dr For few days away! What a Great place!! Andre Daunais
They let you struggle. And they want you to not work and be a junky. I'm really upset at this place and wish they took accountability. Urge you to go somewhere else.
The AC in the waiting room needs to be fixed in the Taunton office. Patient's shouldn't have to sit in a HOT waiting room, with just a fan blowing hot air around. You should be ashamed of how you treat your patient's and their family member's who are waiting for them. Absolutely insane how hot it is out there and then to have staff come out wrapped in blankets. One staff member tried to help by leaving the door open but was informed by the front desk staff that it was not allowed. Bend the rules a little to help out the sweaty people in your waiting room. I don't know her name but thank you for trying.
Love this place ! I feel heard, safe & validated!
Only unlicensed therapist in their 20's work there. I was told this by a third woman, Pam, after spending over an hour on the phone talking to 2 different intake women. They also do not have any therapist with Borderline Personality Disorder, or BPD, experience! I specifically told the women I had spoken with that I needed a therapist with BPD experience (I've been diagnosed) and that I didn't want some 20 year old either. I am 51 years old and would feel uncomfortable sharing and getting feedback from someone who couldn't possibly relate to me. I am so angry that I spent all that time for NOTHING, except for frustration and more despair. I wouldn't recommend that place to anyone. I feel cheated.
Outstanding caring staff, they work in a demanding environment. Thank you for all you do.
