This place is not a therapy or healing center — it operates like a billing center. I met once with Elaine. From the start, the interaction felt rushed, dismissive, and agenda-driven. She did not listen to why I was there. I was very clear that I was not seeking treatment for mental illness, depression, or anxiety. I stated repeatedly that I was there for personal growth, clarity, and support navigating co-parenting conversations, and an emotional support certificate for my animal — not for diagnosis or pathology. Despite that, the session quickly shifted toward labeling and risk-framing rather than listening. I was spoken to in a way that felt presumptive and inappropriate for someone who had no understanding of my background, lived experience, or goals. I was also told, unnecessarily and aggressively, about mandatory reporting — despite no indication of harm or risk. It felt less like care and more like positioning. What concerned me most was being told that a diagnosis would be applied “for insurance purposes,” even after I explicitly stated I do not suffer from anxiety or depression and did not consent to being labeled. That crossed a line. I later spoke with Elaine’s supervisor, Jody Detweieler, and the experience did not improve. The focus remained on diagnosis and billing rather than client-led care. The overall impression was that insurance reimbursement took priority over integrity, consent, or actual therapeutic presence. This was one of the most unprofessional and uncomfortable experiences I’ve had with a provider. People seeking genuine growth, autonomy, or non-pathologizing support should proceed with caution.
my therapist ghosted me!
Do you know the difference between stress and grief which causes sadness and shaking and lack of motivation and mental illness which causes behavioral changes and you to stay in bed for weeks at a time or panic attacks where you can't breathe and fall to the floor shaking and sweating and can't get out of where you're at? If you have normal grief or sadness or problems that need to be resolved to make your life healthier, this is absolutely the place to go to learn the skills to go back to your family and friends as a whole person. If you are mentally ill, like being life-lighted to Bryan memorial trauma center or not getting out of bed or isolating from all your friends to the point where you're a hermit and the anxiety so bad it's not your heart racing it's butterflies contracting the muscles of your lungs, and behavioral changes that make you think a devil is inside of you, don't go here. They are not trained and they're not equipped to deal with mental illness. As my therapist said, "we will learn that skill together". Also, "that requires a higher level of care". My compassion and love to you all in finding how to be your best self.
"Simply put, they CARE.....you can tell when someone is truly listening, and this staff of professionals cares a great deal about people. It's not a job, it's a calling. Central Nebraska is lucky to have a place like this....
