I felt supported by the staff and respected throughout my time here. The team was caring, professional, and truly wanted to help. Treatment gave me tools and clarity I didn’t have before, and I’m grateful for the experience.

I’d like to say, this was a wonderful place. I’m young, this was my first detox and was going to be residency, but that didn’t happen for reasons outside of this company. The staff there tried their hardest, continuing to answer to the needs of over 20+ people at a time. Yes they were short staffed, which is super unfortunate. But they made up for it in their work ethic. I would recommend this place to literally anyone. The biggest thing I didn’t like is the struggle of medications being sent to my pharmacy. Besides that, I had a wonderful stay. I would go again but preferably not. They taught me things that I wouldn’t have known outside of this place. Another thing, I’d recommend giving the people there more things to do. I get it’s a detox, but cleaning, painting, anything. Could help with peoples emotions. I loved to clean because of how bored I was.

One star is too generous for the harm I experienced at Banyan Treatment Center in Castle Rock. My experience at this facility was deeply distressing and caused lasting emotional harm. The most serious issue was a violation of my privacy and confidentiality. The billing department contacted my parents demanding a $4,500 payment and disclosed that I was an inpatient resident in treatment. This occurred without my consent and directly undermined my intention to keep my treatment private. At the time, my family believed I was away on a church retreat. This was not due to shame, but because my decision to seek treatment was meant to be a hopeful surprise upon completion—especially after our family suffered unimaginable loss. My older brother passed away from brain cancer on January 13, 2026, at only 43 years old. Shortly after, my grandmother fell, broke her hip, rapidly declined, and also passed away. This was our first Christmas without our loved ones. I intentionally canceled travel plans, including airfare purchased by my parents, so I could begin treatment and later share that progress as something positive. That choice was taken from me. The disclosure felt like a profound betrayal of trust. When I raised this HIPAA concern with administrative staff, it was dismissed. I was told I had “signed a form,” despite clearly explaining that my family did not know I was in treatment. The lack of accountability and compassion in response to such a serious issue was devastating. I was also alarmed to see staff printing daily census reports that included patient photos, full names, and dates of birth. Seeing highly sensitive personal information handled so casually raised serious concerns about the facility’s approach to privacy, ethics, and patient protection. Beyond privacy issues, I experienced significant neglect regarding my personal property. My laptop was returned to me broken beyond repair, and personal belongings—including sentimental gifts such as new shoes symbolizing a fresh start and a hat—were taken by my roommate. When I reported this, I felt dismissed and unsupported. No one took responsibility for the damage to my laptop, which was especially harmful because my case manager and I were actively relying on it to submit critical FMLA and Colorado FAMLI paperwork to protect my job and income during treatment. Even more troubling, the broken laptop was quietly placed back with my locked belongings for me to discover later. Several staff members spoke to residents in a condescending and demeaning manner. One staff member in particular, Laura (BHT), consistently treated patients as though we were delinquents or children rather than individuals seeking recovery. This environment was not therapeutic—it was disempowering. The admissions team also informed us that gym access would be provided four days per week. This was misrepresented, and I missed my first opportunity because my shoes had been stolen and I no longer had the required footwear. Treatment environments should be safe, respectful, trauma-informed, and confidential. Instead, I left Banyan feeling more traumatized than helped. I truly believe I lost far more than I gained from this experience. Anyone considering this facility for themselves or a loved one deserves to be fully aware of these risks.

Oh where do I start with this place! I would give it zero stars if I could from the heavy processed food, to a nurse giving a patient 700 mg of the incorrect dosage of medication sending them to the hospital because they overdosed the patient. I hope that patient sues Banyan and files a Dora complaint against that nurse! To the numerous times other nurses gave patients’ the wrong medications and the patients’ catching the error before they took it! I could also see other patients’ information including their full names, DOB, etc….HIPAA violation. To the shower not even being cleaned between new patients’ arriving to the room. There were pubic hairs in our shower (gross) not ours and no water pressure. To the wasteful time of unproductive group. Also to mention patients’ arguing, physically fighting, and sexual encounters. Wouldn’t be surprised if there were some babies conceived during my time there. I could go on but the state/Government needs to investigate this place immediately! This place is ment for substance abuse not mental. This facility should not even be opened and should be shut down, but it definitely should not be dual diagnosis. Do not go here for mental or at all! Banyan I will file my complaints with city and state. No need to respond with your 1-800 number!

They have tvs in every room and good food. Lots of smoke breaks and they have a good medication management for symptoms. I would highly recommend them to anyone wanting a painless detox

First off, I want to give a shout-out to the chefs and kitchen staff. Great food, which helped make the overall horrific experience there slightly more tolerable. There were times where I felt the place would be shut down at any moment due to the never ending chaos of patients yelling and screaming or having to be sent off to the hospital due to botched detox protocols. My personal experience with detox there has actually caused me long term health problems due to the fact the providers didn’t inform me that one of my medications needed to be tapered off for many months — not three weeks! I’m now dealing with a very serious protracted withdrawal disorder that has disrupted every aspect of my life since leaving there. Just throwing endless amounts of Valium and muscle relaxants at someone until they leave is medically irresponsible. I’m actually considering to sue this facility due to the pharmaceutical injuries I might have to deal with for the rest of my life. If you’re considering going here, I’ll make this simple by saying the following: research other facilities! Here are some additional reasons why you should consider somewhere else to spend your time and money: 1) you will be strip searched and dehumanized as soon as you arrive 2) you will then have to wear scrubs until they get around to vaporizing your personal belongings with a Zap Bug Oven to prevent even more bed bugs from contaminating the place 3) groups are poorly structured and a waste of time 4) there are tvs in every room, which can be distracting if you have a roommate who watches tv all day and all night 5) the clinical director is good at listening, but it’s quite apparent he doesn’t actually care about clients and operates with a superficial front Not cool. Not cool at all. “Love them while they’re here, but forget about them when they leave.” That’s their motto.

Terrible handling of patient medical and general needs. Food was great chefs are passionate and underpaid. Mark was a superficial, profit focused, tool. He focused on fixing more of the superficial issues as opposed more core issues such as treatment of staff, organization of medication (both prescription and dissemination), and poorly structured curriculum with no real value. The grand majority of the non administrative staff deserve a great amount of credit for their kindness and passion despite their poor working conditions and the administration putting roadblocks at every turn. My advice to the Banyan corporate team is to do an unannounced visit or to try to experience a stay for two weeks unbeknownst to Mark. Conveniently a day before Marks boss came to visit all the things we had been complaining about for weeks had a sudden and unexplainable turn around. This is dishonest and morally reprehensible, if your branch needs help show your corporate structure and communicate honestly. If I could refund my time and money I certainly would. Again I want to emphasis the efforts of all the BHT's and therapists, they did the absolute best that they could and I truly appreciate their efforts. To Mark in particular, treat them better they deserve more pay and better working conditions. Do better.

4k a day is what they are billing. My roommate was ejected for sleeping with another patient my first day. He was later let back in. This place is trash. I entered banyan an alcoholic. I left an alcoholic with financial issues.

Do not send your loved ones here. I picked my wife up from this facility today.She had more trauma coming home than when she did.When she went there\nShe watched the staff member overdose.\nAnd getting took out in an ambulance. This place is horrible.Send your loved ones anywhere else.But this place.
