Alayna is an amazing speech therapist! She does a wonderful job working with my child and really takes the time to get to know what he enjoys. She incorporates his favorite activities into their sessions, which keeps him engaged and excited to learn. I’ve noticed great improvement in his speech, and I truly appreciate her caring and creative approach. Highly recommend!
Miss Sophie is a fantastic speech therapist. She is kind, friendly, and works with kids at THEIR level. She pushes for kids to try harder because we know they are capable. She helps my son who is nonverbal get an AAC device and she been working with him. She goes an extra mile to get to know you and your family to understand the dynamic that supports your child. Some kids are quiet. Some kids are loud. Some tones are to be used. My child loves drama and tolerates mid pitch voice with LOADS of positive reinforcement. She uses these observations in the session to help him progress and develop the skills he needs. Miss Morgan is a rockstar with scheduling needs. Yes, attendance is strict however they are understanding that sometimes things do come up. They also have open door policy which is a PLUS. You are allowed to sit in your children’s session if you want to. I recommend this office 100%
My daughter has been going to OT at DTA in Durham for the past 10 years. Currently, Ms. Kara Worley has been phenomenal with thinking outside the box and being creative to keep her excited about returning every week. She has made much progress thanks to these wonderful professionals.
My daughter has been a client with DTA for four years and we finally have a speech therapist who truly gets her! In just a short time, Miss Sophie has been able to inspire tremendous growth in my child through sincere, genuine connection and concern. She has been an amazing Speech Therapist! I’m also so grateful for the time we get with Shannon for OT. Her 25 years of experience, skill, and thoughtful, understanding approach truly stand out. As a parent herself, she makes us feel seen and supported, and my daughter loves working with her. I’m beyond thankful for the care, flexibility, and dedication both Sophie and Shannon bring to our lives.
We love Ms Morgan, Ms Shannon and Ms Whitney! I particularly love Ms Shannon's connection with my child, and she is always so flexible when we need to schedule a makeup appt or change it to a different day because we're so busy. She has immense experience with and understanding of kids with ASD. And Ms Morgan has been so patient with my other child, and I've seen real progress under both Ms Morgan and Ms Shannon!
Shannon’s care, understanding, and expertise have made all the difference in my child’s life. Without her thoughtful evaluations, processes, and support, they would not be the confident, successful person they are today. We first reached out when my child was seven for occupational therapy related to handwriting. At the time, they couldn’t write legibly, and it was beginning to affect both confidence and ability to keep up with peers. Shannon’s patience, thoughtful approach, and consistent support gave them not only the tools to improve but also the confidence to carry those skills into every area of life—whether in the classroom or on the baseball field. When children struggle with something as visible as handwriting, it can be discouraging and impact their mindset. Shannon’s ongoing visits, follow-ups, and additional research gave my child the steady encouragement they needed. More importantly, she helped them understand that their challenges weren’t due to a lack of effort, but to a learning disorder—one that could be addressed with accommodations and perseverance. Today, they know they can achieve anything. They’ve learned that their path may require different steps, but it doesn’t limit their potential. For that, we are deeply grateful. Thank you, Shannon.
First, I will say the therapists here are wonderful and helped my child tremendously. However, I will likely not come back to this practice in the future because of the management and lack of support surrounding billing/filing for insurance. I have had to email over 20 times to request updates on insurance filings/re-filings with limited success. We have since completed treatment, and there are at least 4 claims from at least 5 months ago that have not been corrected/resubmitted to my insurance company (and I have asked to speak with billing directly to help figure out the issue, with no luck). Unless you are self-pay, I would be cautious about seeking services here because it feels like if something goes wrong with billing, you are on your own.
It’s hard servicing special needs children, but it’s HARDER being a parent of not one but multiple children who have special needs. If you are a parent who is trying to get life together and established for your children do not come here. It will break your heart, like when your first heard the diagnosis of your child. I won’t share my story bc we all have one, I’m just trying to save you from the disappointment…..
This review has nothing to do with the therapists or with the quality of therapy at DTA. This review has to deal solely with the management and administrators of DTA. Our child has been receiving services through DTA in Cary since May 2023. After a few months, his speech therapist left and DTA had no plans for when they would find a replacement, didn’t offer us any options at the or other facilities and didn’t give us referrals for any facilities in the area. They put us on a waitlist and kept telling us they would have a therapist soon. Two months later, no therapist and we had to scramble to find someone on our own. Then, after a while, his OT left. In 10 months, we have had THREE different OTs. First OT left to pursue another opportunity so the put us with another OT that was very clearly pregnant and was going to be due soon. When she went on leave we asked her what the plan was for services and she said that she didn’t know and they didn’t know. So, we got placed with a part time therapist during which time we saw a lot of growth. Last week we received a call that they FINALLY found another full time OT after EIGHT months. Because they have a new full time OT, they called to tell us they are going to change our child’s OT AGAIN. When we insisted that would deter any growth he would have and said we would even change our time slot to keep the part time therapist he has had for 8 months we were flatly told that was not an option. They didn’t care that it would potentially cause a backslide or extreme emotional response and were not willing to work with us at all. When we explained all the changes we have been through they just didn’t care. So, we are now looking for somewhere that can actually provide us consistent care because I am not putting my child through another change in a few months because they can’t seem to maintain therapists and because they don’t care. This is all a business to them.
I am so happy we found this place! It has been a blessing and Brianna is just amazing. She is caring and patient and my son genuinely enjoys therapy.
