Irvine Therapy Services

My young teenaged daughter received wonderful, thoughtful and knowledgeable services at Irvine Therapy Services. Along with the clinic’s standard practices, her OT did a great job adapting her tools to address my daughter’s age-relevant issues (think PE class in middle school). When the clinic added a polyvagal theory based therapy listening system, my daughter was lucky to be an early participant and provided feedback to the clinic. The clinic has supplemental offerings for continued support and socialization, such as a fitness class and a parenting workshop. My daughter’s OT, Jennie, is very knowledgeable, patient and a thorough communicator. From my daughter: “Everyone there was kind and flexible. It really helped with my hand-eye coordination and I always looked forward to going there.”

I can’t overstate how helpful Irvine Therapy Services was for our family. The work they did with our son over the course of a year truly helped him manage his sensory issues and really made a difference for our whole family.

My 8 year old son was diagnosed with autism at 18 months old. He has worked with several therapists in fields, including: speech, ABA, occupational, music, physical and equine. My son's progress was very slow with his first occupational therapist and he was becoming incredibly frustrated with her, so much so that the she reccommended that he take a 1 year break to avoid further frustrating him, his peers and the staff at their facility. Shortly after, our son's pediatrician highly reccommended Irvine Therapy Services, claiming that they are the best in Orange County. We continue to be so grateful for our pediatrician's advice, as we have not only seen a great deal of progress since he has started with their facility over two years ago, but we genuinely feel like our family is nurtured and cared for by both the therapists and staff. Melanie and Jennie are very gifted Occupational Therapists that bring with them a strong medical knowledge of anatomy, therapuetic intervention, practical advice for parents, accessible billing communications, patience and big, big hearts!

When we came to Irvine Therapy Services 3 years ago with our 3 year old, we were told by our son’s preschool that he was in need of extra help. He was clearly behind in his social skills (growling, screaming and hitting) understanding what his body should do in space (crashing into kids and tables, unable to come down from play structures). After our assessment, we knew we had landed in the right place for our son. Our fears of the unknown and feeling lost were completely quelled by Jennifer, who has been our OT for the past 3 years has been an incredible mainstay for our family. In the gym, she gets the absolute most out of our son. With the perfect blend of exercise and play, she knows exactly what our son needs in order to give him focus, body security and confidence. She listens to our sons interests and runs with them to give him the most fun experience in the gym. Jennifer’s patience knows no bounds. Not just for the days that are particularly difficult for my son but also the days that are particularly difficult for me, as a mom. On our path, we have had various other parties whispering in our ears suggestions and recommendations for our son that can have been both disorienting and maddening. But the combination of Jennifer’s ability to listen to parents, her understanding of one’s child and a deep knowledge base of Sensory Processing Disorder always guided me through the turbulence and come away with the confidence that we are at the right place. By no means it this the “quick fix” but this is the RIGHT ONE. Children have to be able to be children and play, be creative, learn from mistakes. It’s truly the best way to learn. And the children here do it all in a completely safe and caring environment. In our time at ITS, I have interacted with every OT and they are all brilliant. When Jennifer is out, I know that my son will be in good hands no matter what. This place has turned my son into a young man who can now communicate at his age appropriate level and this kid can climb, swing, jump, skip, throw, and whatever else, with the best of them. Irvine Therapy Services has been a tremendous asset in the treatment of our son. The team at ITS were invaluable in helping us assess his issues, and have a unique way of working with the kids to make improvements. In the last year, we've seen dramatic improvements in his ability to do fine motor skills, focus on tasks, and improved physical coordination and dexterity. The team is friendly, passionate about their work, and really demonstrate care and investment in the outcomes for our son.

I am so grateful to have found Irvine Therapy Services and Ms. Jennifer! We have worked together as a seamless team, beginning OT in Late May, 2020. Not only were we transitioning from a large school to a smaller one and into a great BSLC program, but the COVID19 shutdowns of schools had impacted us all. We were nervous about beginning OT during the pandemic, but after a visit to the facility and reviewing their safety protocols, we felt comfortable and ready to try it out. Beginning OT at Irvine Therapy Services was one of the best things we have done for our son. We have been regularly participating in OT three times a week over the summer, and now twice a week during school. The amount of progress and growth in our son has been tremendous! The specific issues we wanted to address have naturally been improved with the proprioceptive tasks and fine motor skill exercises Ms. Jennifer designs, and also the ones she has our son lead. We are also experiencing improvements in areas that were not our original focus! The development and maturity my son is demonstrating now have not only built his confidence and capacity to cope better emotionally, but he is so much more comfortable with self-advocating, with accepting disappointments and he is listening to other peers a lot more lately! Clearly, the brain and body connections are improving, I credit this to regular visits to Irvine Therapy Services. Ms. Jennifer is a natural in this field: She is professional, knowledgeable, positive and comforting. She encourages and inspires without coddling, she helps the kids find their own strategies, and she can share insights and communicate clearly and reassuringly with parents. The scheduling, cleanliness, and staff professionalism are all wonderful and dependable. We really feel that ITS is a valuable part of our team for our son, and we highly recommend them without reservation.
