My son loved Keystone Achievements! Loved it! He developed so much and had so much fun there. The entire team is amazing! My family will be forever grateful! We highly recommend Keystone Achievements!!
When Kaiden started at Keystone, he struggled with impulse control constantly. Keystone coached Kaiden to recognize his emotions and pause to process his options and emotional responses. This empowered Kaiden to take control of his behaviors and use his words. Kaiden has been very successful in Kindergarten thanks to the patient guidance of Keystone's team and unique program. I am able to take Kaiden in public without fear of meltdowns and maladaptive behaviors. Keystone regularly provided opportunities for educating and training parents in 'best practices' and positive reinforcement strategies both at home and in the center. I am beyond grateful to the Keystone team for equipping our family to successfully work through the challenging journey of Autism and ADD.
1. What changes did you see in your child from attending ABA? Our son’s ability to communicate his needs and understand expectations soared. With that our son’s behavior improved and his true, fun loving personality evolved. ABA is as much about helping the whole family as helping the child who struggles with behavior and life’s requirements and expectations. 2. How did your household change with behavior improvements? Our entire family felt a reduction in stress and anxiety when we witnessed and experienced our son’s improvement as a result of ABA. When we saw the difference ABA was making in our son we felt and knew we were on the right track-- it changed our family dynamic. We only wanted what all parents want… to see our children enjoy life and succeed in day-to-day experiences the same as all family members. 3. Was your child able to become a successful student at school? Yes! Our ABA team worked with the school staff to provide continuity and strategies for progress and success for our son in all environments, but especially at school. 4. Did family and friends recognize the positive behavior changes? Yes! When different friends, family and acquaintances witnessed our son’s ability to negotiate new experiences, especially if they had not seen him for a while, they often remarked about how far he has come or how well he was doing. They were as excited as we were in seeing how well our son was doing and the progress he made (and continues to make). 5. Are you able to go places in public that you avoided prior to ABA? Absolutely. We now know how to approach different environments that we might otherwise have avoided prior to our ABA experience. It is as much about working with our son to prepare him for new environments as anything else. Each child/person who needs ABA has different needs…ABA has taught us how to approach those needs for growth and success. 6. What was your experience like with your ABA team? We truly felt our ABA team was a part of our extended family. Their efforts to truly get to know our son so that they could address his needs was crucial to our son’s improvement. He loved going to his sessions and connecting with both his team members and his “friends” (peers). ABA sessions were something my son truly looked forward to. And we felt peace and optimism in his participation. 7. What would you say to the naysayers of ABA? Don’t potentially rule out the wonderful benefits of ABA before you give it a chance. If we had listened to others (even other therapists), we might never have pursued ABA. Often, people who assume they know ABA but aren’t knowledge or experienced have erroneous, preconceived notions. ABA has been a god send to our son and our family. It saved our family and truly opened up a world of possibilities for our son.
We started our ABA services with Keystone Achievements shortly after our son, Cooper, developed more agitated behaviors when entering puberty after the pandemic. We pulled Cooper from school after the pandemic to homeschool him during this difficult time. Even though Cooper had been enrolled in ABA therapy in years previously, our experience with Keystone was completely different from the get-go...after an in-depth evaluation with Todd McClane and one of Keystone's BCBAs, Cooper began individualized ABA therapy several times per week at Keystone's Academy location addressing some of Cooper's agitation and maladaptive behaviors. Within a few months, we saw Cooper start adopting safer mechanisms for handling stress that he learned at Keystone, such as verbally asking for a break, doing wall-push ups or deep squats while taking deep breaths. These adaptations allowed us to reintroduce Cooper back into general education during his middle school years, where he is still thriving. With the support of BTs at Keystone Achievements and BCBAs that understood, supported and encouraged Cooper, Coop developed a few friendships while at ABA therapy and participated in functional ADL learning activities such as shopping for groceries. As a family, we were able to go out to eat regularly and travel again. Monthly meetings with Cooper's BCBA helped our family address new behaviors and goals for Cooper as he matured and his emotional intelligence and/or social needs changed. We are deeply grateful for the compassionate care that Keystone Achievements provided our son, Cooper, and by extension, our family. Chance, Deb and Cooper Henderson
With messiah attending ABA, he was able to use words and begin to talk to me. He was non-verbal pretty much and Keystone help him find his words. Having aba for messiah at Keystone help him as well as myself with understanding certain behaviors and how to correct them or how to work thru them for a better outcome. Messiah is now a 3rd grader and he is doing amazing. I never thought he would be able to go to school without ABA but Keystone (and myself included) has gotten him ready for school and helped a lot with him learning how and what to do when it comes to school and what’s expected. My grandmother and mother tell me all the time that messiah has come a long way. His teachers at school had no clue he only had 2-3words at the age of five. I thank Keystone and all the therapist there who help my son become what he is today at 9yrs old. Grocery store or any store for that matter I could not go in because messiah would have such a hard time and I wouldn’t know what to do except go home. Having Keystone helped me be able to get things done, helped me prepare Messiah for certain tasks, and overtime it helped. Now we can go into Sam’s for groceries and I can get a lot more done. With the team messiah had and all the hard work they all did was amazing!! They were there every step of the way and help in every way possible. Parent meetings, phone calls messages, emails or anything that I needed. They were there and on it and on time every time. It was hard at first for me as mom to leave him with others knowing he didn’t have words and such, but he turned out amazing and he continues to succeed and get better at everyday life. For others who may not believe that ABBA works or who may be against ABA I would say I have had a situation with other companies where it made me think ABA was not something I wanted to go forward with, but finding the right company and the right ABA family Makes one hell of a difference and if I could recommend to any parents, I would recommend Keystone achievements because you guys help me in a way. I never thought that strangers would be able to.
