I want to share my experience with Lifting Spirits. I have a baby, Ailany. She was referred to physical and occupational therapy when she was 5 months old because she was weak due to being premature and underweight, and she had difficulty holding her bottle. When I took her, the first thing her therapist recommended was a change of bottle, which helped her a lot. My daughter started gaining weight, but she still didn't want the bottle. She had to have a nasogastric tube inserted, which I accepted, and it helped her. She is constantly in occupational and physical therapy. I am totally grateful. Seeing the change my daughter has gone through at 11 months old is amazing. My baby has shown excellent physical and bodily development. I thank God first and foremost, and all the staff who have great patience with all the children who have developmental difficulties. It truly is a place that God put in my path, and I thank all the staff. 🥰🥰🥰 God bless you all. 🙏🏻

Update: I spoke with our former therapist & the owner. Both conversations were professional & positive. We agreed that miscommunication caused the confusion about the plan of care & being dropped as a client. They were so kind & understanding and have assured me they are working to improve communication moving forward. I appreciate their willingness to listen & make changes. Original: My daughter received therapy at Lifting Spirits for about three months following her discharge from a 6.5-month NICU stay. During that time, every therapist and staff member we met were kind, professional, and welcoming. I never had a negative interaction, and it was always wonderful to see how excited the children were to come in and see their therapists. That sense of joy and connection was something Lifting Spirits did very well. Despite that, I left with serious concerns about how my daughter’s care was managed. She was scheduled for one session per week of OT and feeding therapy. I understood this to be the recommendation of our therapist, and as the expert in this field I trusted that this was enough. I was also told that additional sessions could be requested if there were cancellations, but with my husband’s and my schedule, cancellations were nearly impossible to coordinate. Several weeks before we left, our OT mentioned that if my daughter was not taking close to a full bottle by the time she turned one, she would recommend a g-tube. At that time, my daughter was not taking any of her bottle and was primarily NG-tube fed, so it seemed unlikely she would meet that goal. What made this recommendation concerning was that out of the one-hour weekly session, only about 15 minutes were spent on feeding. As a medical professional, I knew this placed both my daughter and the OT at a disadvantage. To strengthen her care team, we sought help from a speech-language pathologist out of pocket. My hope was that the SLP and the OT at Lifting Spirits would work together toward the shared goal of helping my daughter feed orally and avoid a g-tube. Instead, when I raised this, I was met with hesitation. While the OT eventually said she could focus more on feeding if that was what we wanted, it should not have been about what we wanted—it should have been about what my daughter needed. Because of this, and to try to better fit our schedule, I began exploring other OT options outside of Lifting Spirits. I had only asked around and had not selected another therapy clinic when I requested a copy of my daughter’s initial plan of care and evaluation. I was only preparing if that time came. Without me ever mentioning the reason of the request, Lifting Spirits assumed we were leaving and discharged my daughter as a client immediately. Even worse, I was never called or notified in any way. The only reason I found out was because I was texting the OT and I mentioned I would see her at our next session and she happened to mention it. Their decision to immediately cut off care left a baby without therapy and me scrambling to find a clinic that could take her quickly. The immense lack of coordination and communication felt as though the company was more focused on itself than on truly caring for children. Based off the initial plan of care and evaluation from Lifting Spirits, the new OT said that my daughter definitely needed two sessions a week—one for feeding and one for fine motor skills. Why wasn’t this type of care emphasized at lifting spirits? As a mother, my goal has always been to ensure my daughter has the best care, which is ultimately why we left. As a healthcare professional, I am deeply concerned that other families could face the same gaps. While the individuals we worked with were kind and respectful, and the environment was one that children seemed to genuinely enjoy, the way our case was handled in the end was not patient-centered. I am saddened that it did not work out for us, and even more upset that my daughter’s care was cut off so abruptly. I hope this review encourages reflection and change for the benefit of future families.

If I could give them a 0 I would, i have not received a call to schedule my son and even an explanation so I could at least start looking somewhere else. So unprofessional.

We love Lifting Spirits and Yuridia! Our little boy was born at 28 weeks and had quite the uphill battle. Needless to say, there were lots of sleepless nights and uncertainties. Yuridia helped us navigate it all with knowledge and positivity. She was always available to answer questions or offer advice. You can tell that she loves what she does! We also loved that she continues to increase her knowledge base by working in the hospital setting, continuing her studies, and doing extra courses. You can tell she works hard to give the best to her kiddos and we are so thankful that we were able to benefit from her expertise. Our little guy graduated from OT before he even turned 2 and we certainly have Yuridia to thank for her help in that success!
