Since we no longer do ABA at TEACCH, I thought we could try this place. Glad I waited, I realized they care more about parking than other Autistic kids. We have two places by the house, so it's not a big deal but this shows the true colors of the business!
My non-verbal 3 yo started at the Fayetteville, NC location a few weeks ago and it has been such a wonderful experience for him. He has been in such a good mood every day. Within a week of starting at Opal he learned how to direct us to what he wants by pointing or grabbing our hand and pulling us to the item. In the mornings he wakes up and pulls me to the door, wanting to go to the center. Every person he is with has been amazing.
Dr. Berry and her team are awesome when it comes to caring for their patients and the family as well. It started with the intake process. Gregory was awesome and very very on top of my paperwork and getting me scheduled with the provider for my daughter. There was no delay in care and scheduling at all. There was never lost in communication and he explained things to me very well and explained the process. This Opal Autism Center (Fayetteville) really does listen to all of your concerns. Dr. Berry was not dismissive of my concerns and problems regarding my child. She did not rush my appointment and she really was very observant of my child. Dr Berry was just a perfect example of what every provider should be especially when it comes to sensitive topics. She showed compassion and deep concern for my daughter and I really wish every provider could be like her. She educated me along the way during the appointment and then She followed up as she stated she would after the appointment and answered all of my questions even after. I highly recommend this location and Dr. Berry. This is an awesome team. Thank you so much Opal Autism Center of Fayetteville. Thank you Mr. Gregory and thank you so so much Dr. Berry. You all are truly amazing people
I reached out to Opal Autism Centers in hopes of getting support for my child. Unfortunately, the communication I received was condescending and dismissive on more than one occasion, even when I was simply asking for more time or explaining our care priorities. If this is how they treat parents, I worry how that tone may trickle down into how they approach children. We’ve chosen to seek care elsewhere and would caution other families to do the same if they value warmth, understanding, and flexibility during what can already be a stressful process.
I have nothing but amazing things to say about the staff and program at Opal!!! My boy has been attending their preschool readiness program for over a year and has made leaps in his progression. He was considered nonverbal, but he is picking up new words/phrases/skills everyday. Jess and Taylor are nothing short of a Godsend and I am forever grateful!!
My child went from Oct. 2023-February 2024. It was the worst first experience to ABA. She was 3 years old and the lack of communication, scheduling of RBTs, and turnover was insane. In 4 months my child had 6 different RBTs assigned to her case with multiple times a different RBT we never met covered her case. The RBTs who had her case never informed us of her day, what happened, etc. we ended up after 2 months having a daily paper of when she went to the bathroom, fed, etc sent home. But our final straw was again the changing of RBTs and the lack of professionalism. From my understanding the clinic director is now at another facility but Opal still follows the same ethics. Not to mention they had 35+ kids a day in there to where it seemed like it was just a numbers game, occupancy wise there was no way they could have had a 1-1 ratio. The RBTs who had my daughter hardly knew her name. But regardless definitely don’t recommend and to the families who still attend. Push to ask questions, stay involved and never just accept the answers they give.
My son has been at this location since September although I was very nervous about this process as this is our first experience in ABA in-clinic akylie was so nice and helpful and reassuring. They’re communication is top-notch and our BCBA chelsea is so nice as well and really takes the time with my child and he loves his RBTs so far im very satisfied and I know he is in good hands.
i truly hate to see all of these negative reviews and situations that other people have experienced here. my personal experience couldn’t go any better or any smoother. my son is 3yo and he’s been going since july of 2023 and he LOVES it there. and since going he is a brand new kid in the best of ways. he looks forward to going. getting ready in the morning is a breeze! when we pull up in the parking lot he just grins and i cannot get him out of the car fast enough to get him inside to play with his friends! i personally love love love Sarah & Michelle! they’ve always been super professional and even more so caring to my son! the office staff is always full of smiles and super friendly. they have helped my son is so many ways. with behavioral problems, such as spitting when he was angry or irritated. they helped him there and also gave me advise to follow at home. and it worked! they’ve helped him with talking SO much. and this one makes me emotional. my son will be four in september. when he first started Opal he said maybe 5 words. and the most random five words may i add. ex. purple & cow were two of those five. now he speaks in sentences. he can tell me what he wants what he needs. and i know in my heart of hearts it’s because of Opal. 100%. Even his eating habits. i was lucky to get him to eat 1 chip a day. he only would drink his bottle. now he eats MEALS. he’s finally putting some weight on him. and my momma heart couldn’t be any more full. he has had quite a few RBTs which some parents may not be the biggest fan of. but as long as my child seems to enjoy them. isn’t acting out or crying when i’m dropping him off. or telling me any horror stories, that’s what i care about. that my son is loved and looked after, and taken care of. and in the year of him going that hasn’t been a concern. never once. myself, my family, and most importantly my son LOVE Opal and their staff. i couldn’t say enough nice things about this program. and i will forever be grateful that he attends there!!
