If you are seeking meaningful treatment, I would strongly advise looking elsewhere. In my experience, Pasadena Villa caused more harm than good. During my time there, four therapists resigned, and according to their website, the only other therapist who began during my stay has also since left. This high turnover reflects deeper issues in management, which I found to be severely lacking. Dr. Dunn and Vanessa, in particular, demonstrated poor leadership and ineffective care. Dr. Dunn deliberately excluded myself and another client from discussions to avoid hearing perspectives she did not want to address, and at times placed blame on clients rather than taking accountability herself. When someone enters a program like this, their well-being—and often their life—is at stake. Unfortunately, Pasadena Villa’s priorities appeared to focus on revenue and filling seats rather than patient care. Groups were overcrowded to the point that participants were forced to sit on the floor. Adjunctive therapies dwindled until the only consistent options were yoga and music. Morning check-ins regularly consumed the entire three-hour block, leaving IOP participants with little to no meaningful therapeutic work. When I raised concerns, I was met with the same dismissive response: “From our perspective, everything is fine.” Without meaningful oversight, this culture of avoidance allows serious issues to go unaddressed while patients remain unsupported. I cannot in good faith recommend this facility to anyone seeking genuine care.

My experience at Pasadena Villa, although not perfect, was very positive. The staff there are very knowledgeable and were very caring and flexible with me, and I saw this with other participants as well. At the time I started the outpatient program with them, they had experienced a lot of turnover and were doing what they could to keep things productive. When I gave them feedback on how I didn't feel things were progressing for me, they gave me options to move into a different group that might be better for me. This worked out nicely and enabled me to improve. They have since hired new therapists and things seem to be going well in all of the groups. The staff there was also very helpful to me with completing any and all documentation necessary for my employer to manage my leave of absence. So in total, I would recommend Pasadena Villa for anyone who needs treatment.

My time at Pasadena Villa was truly life-changing. From the moment I arrived, I felt supported, understood, and cared for by an incredible team of professionals. Dr. Dunn, Annemarie, and Lance were particularly instrumental in my healing process. Each of them brought such compassion, insight, and dedication to their work, and I felt that support every step of the way. Going through a difficult time, I wasn’t sure what to expect from treatment—but the environment at Pasadena Villa was both structured and deeply human. The team helped me feel grounded while also empowering me to grow and rediscover my strength. I always felt like I had people behind me who truly wanted to see me succeed and heal. I’m deeply grateful for the care I received and the genuine kindness that was extended to me throughout my time there. This experience made a lasting impact on me, and I will always carry that with gratitude. Thank you all so much for being part of my journey! :)

**CAUTION, people posting recent 5 star reviews have NOT been in the program since management change** Consider other options before coming here. I attended a PHP & IOP at Pasadena Villa (McLean) back in 2021 and it was an entirely different experience. In the past ~month, there was a change in management and afterwards 3 of the therapists quit, leaving the place incredibly under staffed. By the end of my time here, we were hardly receiving any therapeutic content or opportunities to process. 3 hours of IOP (which is only 3 hours$ were spent doing check-ins and an adjunct therapy. 1 hour adjunct therapies (yoga, sound bath, music therapy, and somatics) were the reason I’m not giving a 1 star. There are some great outside providers that come to Pasadena to instruct clients in trauma sensitive yoga and sound healing. This made a significantly positive impact on my journey, in addition to the incredible people I met and connected with in my PHP/IOP group. I’m grateful for these things, but would personally not recommend going here if you are in need of genuine therapeutic support and care. This establishment with their current staff (specifically Sadé Dunn, the director, & Vanessa Sejour, the lead therapist) are not capable of providing the compassion and attention needed for those in a mental health crisis. Lastly, I was not allowed to stay my full time (I was originally given an 8 week treatment plan but was discharged after 7 weeks) because “my therapist”, who I had only met with individually once for 15 minutes, deemed me ready to leave. This was incredibly upsetting as it was a loss of agency in my treatment, something that is crucial for mental health recovery. Additionally, despite sharing I had experienced SI within the past 48 hours, i was told I’d be discharged from the program and did not have a say in the matter. Many other clients have been having similar experiences where they are told the day of that they will be getting discharged from the program, and some believe it is retaliation for complaining about various shortcomings of the program (such as providers being on their phone during group sessions rather than facilitating). My last day at Pasadena Villa McLean was incredibly difficult and chaotic, and I’m happy to be moving on. You deserve to receive treatment at a place where clinicians care about YOU and want to see you succeed. This is sadly not that place.
