Being referred to Hinde Haa Center for Speech and Swallowing was truly serendipitous. At my breaking point, I posted in RVAMoms, a Facebook group with a huge local following, asking for help. The responses poured in, and Hinde’s name was mentioned again and again. What meant even more was that Hinde herself reached out — a moment that immediately felt warm, human, and deeply community-centered. From the very beginning, it felt like we were finally being seen and supported. We walked in with a very tense, colicky, uncomfortable little guy whose only two modes were screaming/crying or sleeping. Feeding was stressful, holding him felt hard, and we were constantly on edge. For weeks, our primary care provider dismissed our concerns, telling us it was just “purple crying.” What we discovered from Hinde’s knowledge, skill, and support was life-changing. In such a short time, our baby transformed into a boy I honestly didn’t know could exist — relaxed in my arms, even while eating. He’s happy now. He laughs sooooo much. I swear he even winks — he’s such a little flirt. Feeding is calm, connection is real, and we finally get to enjoy our baby instead of feeling like we’re just surviving him. Without this referral, we likely would have gone months longer thinking this was just how things were. Hinde listened when others didn’t, saw what others missed, and gave our son (and us) relief we didn’t even realize was possible. I cannot recommend Hinde Haa highly enough. If something feels off, trust your instincts — and go see her. Thank you Hinde, truly!

I have seen Hinde Haa at The Center for Speech and Swallowing for two of my daughters. If I could give 10 stars, I would! She has helped diagnose tongue/lip/buccal ties when our pediatrician and the lactation consultants in the hospital said there weren't any. After having breastfed my son without ties, I knew there was something off with my daughters. Hinde assigned us stretches and exercises to do at home between visits as well as connected us with other wonderful providers in the area for pediatric dentistry and chiropractic. She performed bodywork along with lactation consultation and oral work during our visits. The help we received made a tremendous difference in my first daughter's overall body tension, clicking at the breast, slight side preference, and constipation. The help we received with my second daughter eliminated projectile spit-up and gassiness entirely. Addressing oral ties early is so important for lifelong development, and I'm eternally grateful to have worked with Hinde. I recommend her to everyone I know.

Hinde and Sara (Sarah?) are amazing! I wish I knew about this place when I had my first baby, with whom I experienced multiple breastfeeding issues. When I was expecting my second baby, I set up a prenatal lactation appointment here because I wanted to try breastfeeding again and I knew I wouldn’t have the time to frequently pump. Hinde and Sara were helpful in educating me on the latest information for handling mastitis and provided tips for getting a good latch. After my son was born, I was in extreme pain while nursing and my nipples were sore and bleeding. Hinde identified that my son had a tongue tie and lip tie, the sources of my nursing pain and my son’s latching issues. After my son’s tongue tie and lip tie release, Hinde taught me how to strengthen his tongue so he could eventually nurse without causing me pain. The first six weeks were difficult for me to push through as I went from nursing my son with my sore nipples to now healthy, healed nipples as he eventually learned how to use to his tongue and I learned how to get him to latch correctly. Throughout that period, I felt at times frustrated and like I wanted to give up due to the initial pain, but Hinde’s and Sara’s encouragement helped me mentally as they knew my goal was to exclusively breastfeed. They’re also friendly and personable, which helped me look forward to my appointments. Thanks to their help, I can now look forward to breastfeeding my son the way I was hoping to! If you need breastfeeding support, I highly recommend coming here.

Hinde helped me navigate through my breastfeeding journey with my second who needed his oral ties released . I felt so at ease and prepared through that journey thanks to her. My older son then entered myofunctional therapy with Hinde/Anna & ultimately had his oral ties released. He is now able to sleep and chew with his mouth closed, appears rested in the mornings, attention span has improved & his persistent stuffy nose has resolved. After learning so much from these ladies through the treatment of my children, I got an evaluation for my oral ties due to oral tension/ grinding my teeth and neck/ trap tension that would not budget despite PT and chiro . I completed the myofunctional program and had weekly CST. Due to the persistent tension, I proceeded with both lip & tongue release with Dr. Puryear (he’s amazing & performed all of our releases). There was immediate relief of the tension that I had been struggling with over the past few years post release. I sleep soundly at night/ grinding has lessened, my jaws aren’t constantly tense, my neck pain has completely resolved & my entire body feels less tense. I would repeat the process for each of us time and time again knowing the results that we all obtained, & I will continue to send my friends / family to this practice!

I had a wonderful experience with Hinde Haa at The Center for Speech and Swallowing! She provided excellent service and really took the time to teach me and explain all my options. Thanks to her support, breastfeeding my 6-week-old has become so much more comfortable and manageable. Hinde is incredibly knowledgeable and patient — I learned so much during our sessions. I highly recommend her to any new mom who’s breastfeeding or looking for extra guidance.

Highly recommend if you have any issues breastfeeding at any point! I had pain while breastfeeding and noticed my one month old having body tension. Hinde diagnosed her tongue tie, gave me stretches and exercises to do on my baby, along with giving me so much breastfeeeding info! With this being my first time breastfeeding, I came in with such limited knowledge and left only 5 weeks later knowing so much and feeling so confident! We also avoided a tongue tie release and I have zero pain feeding my baby now! Also, she works with the Lactation network and insurance, which made a world of difference for me!

We found Hinde after our pediatrician referred us to a SLP during our baby’s 2 month visit. Our boy was choking 4-5 times when drinking from a bottle. We were able to get in within a few days of calling Hinde’s office. She identified what was going on and got us on the right track within the first visit. With her knowledge, guidance, and exercises we were even able to avoid a tongue tie release. We are so thankful for Hinde and The Center for Speech and Swallowing!

I was referred by my dula and am so grateful! Hinde and team are very knowledgable and practice with intention. I felt the best care plan was developed to meet my son's needs, as well as my goals. My son was able to strengthen his mouth/tongue in preparation for a tongue tie release. Hinde continued to work with us throughout the healing process to achieve efficient feeding. I also had support and guidance with oversupply and frequent mastitis. It was always a conversation of options and possible outcomes. Overall I felt so supported and heard throughout the whole process. Lastly they are a great resource and I was referred to additional professionals (dentist/PT/support group) that could assist with the big picture. If we ever need anything else I know we will go back.
