We are so grateful for the Occupational Therapy our granddaughter received at Children at Play in Annapolis, MD. Maria worked with her to address some visual/motor issues over many months. One challenging issue that was negatively impacting our granddaughter at school was her inability to write legibly in spite of being very bright. Maria was empathetic and patient with her, and she adjusted her treatment plans as needed, creatively and effectively. Interactions with Maria were so positive because Maria listened to her and worked with her in a way that she understood. As a result of Maria's professionalism and skill, our granddaughter willingly accepted Maria's help and she gained confidence in herself and is now writing legibly. We are also grateful for the scheduling and billing help we received from Megan. We would recommend Children at Play unconditionally for families in need of their services.
We can’t say enough good things about Lauren and the amazing work she’s done with our daughter, Emily. Since starting OT with her, Emily’s balance, coordination, and motor planning have improved so much. She’s become more confident in her movements, and her ability to self-regulate and stay focused has grown tremendously. Lauren always made each session fun and engaging while still challenging Emily to push herself. Her patience, encouragement, and creative approach have made a huge difference in Emily’s progress. We are so grateful for all the time and care Lauren has given her!
Staff is incredible and works in a space that matches their caliber (the gyms are so cool!). My child with ASD loved sessions and it was wonderful to get feedback on helping to modify some of their stims to be safer and more appropriate (i.e., stomping on a squishy ball instead of putting it in their mouth to channel that need for deep pressure), they were also able to work on things like getting them more comfortable with tilting their head back for baths and provided me with strategies to implement at home. Further, the location is super nice as it’s down the street from food, coffee, even ice cream- a nice way to spend a tiny mom break.
We've had the best experience at Children At Play. Sam, Hannah, and Jackie were phenomenal with our son who started at age 3. A free consultation was incredibly helpful and they were very helpful in coming up with ways to support our child's development through play and fun. Our son looks forward to coming each week- it always feels like fun! They were spot on with identifying needs and areas to focus on, helpful in giving us ideas to practice at home, and highly collaborative with us. We have and will continue to recommend this place to everyone who is interested!
We have been using the OT services at Children At Play for almost one year and have seen dramatic improvements in our son. For years, I fought for him to be evaluated because I knew he needed some extra help in certain developmental areas. I was told over and over “it’s normal”. I was referred to Sam (owner at CAP) for an evaluation. She got us in quickly and validated everything I had been advocating for. We began OT with them twice a week. Hannah has been our consistent therapist for a few months now and we LOVE her. She is excellent with my 2 year old. She is patient yet creative and persistent to make sure he is reaching the skills needed to progress. She has given us “homework” to help motivate him at home for his needs and has even made different visual tools for him to help with transitions and routines. We are so thankful for Hannah, Sam, and Children at Play. Highly, highly recommend.
